Performance Based Logistics 2008 Yields Innovative PBL Implementation Strategies To Optimize Mission Performance
New York (PRWEB) August 3, 2008 -- Over 230 program officers, logisticians, contracting officers and industry leaders gathered on July 14-16 at the Hilton Crystal City in Arlington, VA to uncover and analyze some of the most successful programs being implemented across the Federal government, learn best practices from recent PBL research, and develop forward thinking strategies for PBL implementation for effective performance management.
This year's program kicked off with an intimate half day of technology workshops and private networking sessions, providing attendees a forum to discuss their key issues and concerns with PBL experts. In addition, the 'Defense Acquisition Networking and Technology Workshop,' offered a private setting for developing new relationships with defense and industry partners, evaluating progressive technological innovations and gaining in-depth technology knowledge from solution partners such as ClickCommerce, and defense acquisition experts from both the Army and the Navy.
Major General Vincent E. Boles, Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, G4 of the US Army, launched the first main conference day, offering his expert valuation on current PBL milestones as a benchmark against future PBL-based defense acquisition programs to ensure 360o readiness, logistics automation and logistics transformation. Identifying how a PBL receptive environment facilitates strategic operational initiatives , Major General Boles provided inspiring insight into best practices for empowering the Army to better meet the needs of its soldiers.
Another notable speaker - Major General Arthur B. Morrill III, Vice Director of the Defense Logistics Agency - presented delegates with key take-aways for ensuring that supplier relationships are fostered to fuel mission ready programs. Exploring essential elements of a successful PBL program, Major General Morrill addressed the need to build relationships and develop trust between military and industry colleagues to ensure operational availability and mission reliability . Major General Morrill brought to light the complexity of PBL implementation and underscored the fundamental role of industry partnerships in driving exceptional performance.
Other keynote speakers included Colonel Christopher S. Mardis, Director of Logistics, C17 Program of the Air Force Materiel Command, US Air Force, Robert L. Houston, Vice President Performance Based, Logistics and Support or BAE Systems, David Reed, Deputy PBL Director, NAVAIR, US Navy and many more.
